We're seeking a Data Engineering Consultant in Denver to help us take vision to value and create lasting impact.
SUMMARY
The Data Engineering Consultant will lead the design, development, and maintenance of the data infrastructure, ensuring efficient data pipelines, high-quality data integration, and reliable data platforms.?The Consultant will oversee a team of two Data Engineers, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver data solutions that drive business values.
The Consultant work will focus on two primary areas: Operational Data Management and Strategic Data Planning.
YOU WILL:Operational Data Management - Driving Data Excellence
- Coordinate the organization's data ecosystem, including management of third-party vendor reporting relationships (e.g. BOS, Roadside), while defining clear accountability for operational reporting, KPIs, and reconciliation processes.
- Support the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines to integrate transactional tolling data, traffic sensors, and customer information, including coordination with 3rd party vendors, as needed.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and actionable reporting for operational teams, finance, and executive leadership.
- Implement and maintain data quality standards and security (e.g., NIST, PCI-DSS), governance, and compliance practices to protect sensitive information.
- Execute a data strategy across 3rd party vendors (e.g., backoffice, roadside, etc.), including identifying required data inputs for daily operations, performance, enabling proactive decision-making.
- Host regular team and stakeholder meetings to review performance metrics, surface risks or data gaps, and prioritize initiatives.
- Support the development of consolidated reporting dashboards and actionable insights to support enterprise-wide decision-making.
The Manager will also prepare the organization for future data-driven initiatives, including analytics projects, predictive modeling, and enterprise integration efforts:
Define strategic data priorities aligned with organizational goals, such as optimizing toll collection, improving customer experience, and supporting infrastructure planning.
- Develop frameworks for enterprise-wide data governance, metadata management, and cross-system integration.
- Lead advanced analytics initiatives, including but not limited to, revenue performance and assurance, operational efficiency, crash analytics, enhanced image/OCR analytics, and lane degradation.
- Plan and oversee the implementation of predictive modeling initiatives, including but not limited to, traffic patterns, revenue forecasting, operational simulations and bridge/asset maintenance planning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data requirements are captured, traced, and aligned with business objectives.
- Allocate resources, set timelines, and ensure the team has the tools, skills, and guidance needed to execute both ongoing and strategic initiatives.
IDEALLY, WE’D LIKE:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in data management, analytics, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful data strategies in complex organizations.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, data architecture, and data integration methodologies.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong project management and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in the transportation or tolling industry.
- Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and location-based data analysis.
- Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in data analysis.
We strive to offer competitive compensation and benefits while maintaining flexibility for both the employee and the North Highland. Total Rewards associated with this position include an hourly rate from: $80.00 - $110.00 as well as a basic benefits package for temporary employees and paid time off (PTO).
