SUMMARY

As a Software Engineer Analyst, you’ll bring curiosity, a strong willingness to learn, and the drive to grow quickly in a structured, feedback-driven environment. YOU WILL:

  • Demonstrate professional presence in all client and internal settings: prepared, attentive, and engaged.
  • Build foundational familiarity with the client's technical environment and what matters to them.
  • Represent North Highland, being able to explain what the firm does, what the project is working towards and how the solution Is being deployed works.
  • Communicate effectively with technical colleagues and apply curiosity by independently researching unfamiliar concepts, tools, and technologies.

  • Maintain accurate and timely operational data such as timesheets and project updates as the foundation for good decision-making across the firm.
  • Use AI tools to support and accelerate work.
  • Apply critical thinking to all prompts and AI generated outputs. Understand the risks of taking AI output at face value and take full ownership of everything produced, regardless of how it was generated

IDEALLY, WE'D LIKE:
  • Curiosity and proactivity, with a commitment to continuous learning and development over formal credentials, with proficiency in at least one common programming language such as C#, Java, Python, or Rust.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, teamwork, or experience working under pressure through customer-facing jobs, internships, consulting clubs, community involvement, or other structured environments, including meaningful contributions on open-source projects.
  • Interest in building an understanding of software development and deployment lifecycles, including how individual contributions fit into the broader process.
  • Basic familiarity with Agile methodologies, version control practices, and software development workflows.
  • Foundational understanding of source control tools such as Git.
  • Awareness of software engineering concepts including databases, cloud services, CI/CD tooling, and observability tools.
  • Exposure to software engineering practices and concepts such as containerization, microservices architecture, and full stack development fundamentals.
  • Ability to take an assignment, create a first draft and revise based on feedback to create a final deliverable.
  • Ability to stay engaged, ask good questions, and build professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Comfort working in environments where not every answer is clear.
  • Genuine interest in technology consulting as a profession.
